There were a few key makeup must-haves in the 1990s, and one of them was definitely lipliners. We used them on their own with some clear gloss, in tandem with the brown lipsticks we loved to wear, or in a contrasting colour to our usual makeup palette for some added panache. If you loved having a great liner during that decade, you’ll be pleased to know that lipliners have made a triumphant return to runways as well as makeup collections, and we scoped out some of the best ones. —Jennifer Cox
The Lip Definer from Victoria Beckham Beauty ($39) is a super precise, waterproof pencil to line and define the natural shape of your lips. The smooth texture allows for tug free, impeccable applying without skipping or feathering. It can both contour and colour the lips, creating a defined, fuller lip look. Choose from seven different colours.
The Feed My Lips Pure Nourish-mint Lip Liner ($33, Aveda) defines and shapes lips perfectly. It is formulated with 96 per cent naturally derived ingredients like mango seed oil and a blend of botanical waxes for smooth gliding and blendable colour. We love this liner because it creates beautiful lines for extended wear and has less feathering, but it’s also beneficial to your overall lip health too.
For those of you who love a great matte finish, check out Tower 28 Beauty’s OneLiner Lip Liner + Eyeliner + Cheek Pencil ($21, available at Sephora Canada).
