When someone mentions they are visiting Victoria, B.C., three words come to mind: The Fairmont Empress. The iconic hotel situated in the Victoria Harbour is not only a beautiful spot to take a photo or go for afternoon tea, but a luxurious inn that has offered an amazing experience for the past 115 years.
Famed as Canada’s Castle on the Coast, the Fairmont Empress in Victoria is an award-wining British Columbia hotel and National Historic Site dating back to 1908. With unparalleled majestic views over the Inner Harbour, this historic hotel is where contemporary convenience meets iconic luxury.
But, it’s by no means stuck in the past. The property recently renovated its Gold Suite floor, which now includes an 1,100-square-foot lounge that serves up a continental breakfast to rival any brunch spot in the city, as well as happy hour with a daily changing menu and late-night sweet treats—all free for anyone staying on this floor. As a Gold Suite guest, you can even enjoy a drink from a self-serve honour bar stocked with top-shelf spirits on the terrace, with views of the Parliament Building and harbour.
Also new: the Lavender Haze experience includes a stay in a Fairmont Gold Suite, hand-crafted Empress 1908 Lavender Haze cocktails, delicious lavender macarons and lavender pillow sachets made with—you guessed it—lavender from the hotel’s rooftop garden. You can also add on a spa experience at the Willow Stream Spa: the Lavender Dreams treatment involves a lavender-infused massage.
Back to the Gold Suite, the renovated rooms feel modern, with waterfall shower heads, Le Labo products and, of course, those iconic Fairmont beds—so comfortable, we found ourselves searching the Internet to see if we could buy both bedding and mattress for home.
