4 Sustainable Outfits You Can Wear All Day

September 29, 2023

Most of us have many moving parts to our days. Between work, kids, socializing, pets, time outside and all the bits in-between, it can feel challenging to get dressed in the morning and have that one outfit perform for us through all of this. There can be a real satisfaction of styling the perfectly thought-out look. An outfit that can take you from work, to walking the dog, to dropping off the kids at school, to dinner out. We want to be comfortable. We want to look put together. We want to think about our clothes once, when we first get dressed in the morning and then go about our day. If you are still changing for different parts of your day and are looking for that perfect magic combo of comfort, style and function, I’ve put together four looks for four different types of day. Each ensemble will take you from morning coffee to when it’s time to slip on your PJs and retire for the night. —Jen Pistor

Outfit 1: An all-day outfit perfect for running errands, working from home and driving the kids to their activities. For busy days, comfort should rule. Try skipping your go-to black and opt for soft neutrals instead. This ivory sweatshirt has beautiful eyelet sleeves which dress up the look. The rich, caramel pants feel like  sweatpants but are polished enough to wear out to all the places you need to go. To create a bit more of a fashion moment with this look, swap your runners for a coordinating pair of oxfords. Then, add simple accessories like a printed, vintage scarf and co-ordinating tote.

Outfit 2: An all-day outfit for a quick pop in to the office, a casual lunch meeting and going to a movie that night. Denim skirts are currently having a real moment. They are a fabulous, dressier approach to denim and are so versatile. For those casual, professional days, a denim skirt and crisp white T-shirt are the perfect base for a classic look. A slightly oversized tweed, wool, blazer with a structured shoulder adds professionalism to the outfit. The lug sole oxfords play nicely with the tones in the blazer and keep the fit looking stylish and fresh.

Outfit 3: An all-day outfit for a coffee meeting, parent teacher conference and going out for dinner with the family. For those days where you need to look pulled together but in a casual way, a black denim and button-up shirt are a great combo. A lovely neutral tank under the shirt adds visual interest by introducing a third colour. The key to making this outfit look polished, are the pieces you complete the look with. Simple gold jewelry like this watch and square hoop earring, along with the matching ivory leather tote give a sophistication to casual attire. The classic black loafers are also key in keeping you from looking too casual.

Outfit 4: An all-day weekend outfit for taking the dog for a walk, grabbing a coffee and cheering on your kids at the soccer field or heading to your local farmer’s market. Make comfort your whole style personality on the weekends. Comfort and function are key. Leggings can absolutely have a place in your wardrobe and when it comes to walking the dog or hanging out at the soccer field, what better time to wear them? If this look is feeling a bit too casual for you, simply layer a classic trench coat over this look and pop on your sunglasses. These two wardrobe staples will add a little glam to any outfit.
