Ask Coach Erin: Anxiety, Health Hacks, Podcasts & Fall Products

October 20, 2023

Hey everyone!

I hope you’re holding up alright; I know the world feels super heavy right now. I’m sending all of those who are affected by the recent global events my love, thoughts and prayers.

I’m sure that what’s happening globally is causing many of you to have increased feelings of anxiety, hopelessness, and overwhelm. I want you to know that you’re not alone, and that your ability to feel for others is beautiful.

If you’re needing extra support right now, consider submitting one of your questions to be answered here in my next Ask Coach Erin column.

This week, I’m covering how to manage anxiety, a health hack everyone should know about, my fave podcast, and a product I’ve been loving this fall.

1. The world feels heavy right now with everything that’s happening globally. I want to help but feel helpless and overwhelmed by it all. Any tips on how to move forward?

I know things feel hard in the world right now; the first thing to do when things are tough is to make sure you’re taking the time to care for yourself. It may sound counterintuitive but a world of anxious, stressed and depleted humans will not be able to create the light that is required in dark times.  Self care can look different for each person, but my favourite ways to nourish my mind and body are to get out into nature for walks, talk to my friends and family, and prioritize a good night’s rest.

Next, try taking media breaks. Yes, it’s important to stay informed, but too much information can feel overwhelming to your system. Consider limiting news and social media intake to once a day or whatever feels most comfortable to you.

A great way to fight the feeling of helplessness is to take action and be of service. Here are two resources in which you can leave a financial donation for those affected by the Israel-Hamas conflict:

Finally, your thoughts matter. Pray, meditate, and send loving-kindness to our global community through these trying times.

2. What’s a health hack everyone should know about?

Breathwork! Our breath is an incredibly powerful tool and not enough people know how to use it to their full advantage.

Breathwork is scientifically linked to relieving stress and anxiety, improved mental clarity, boosted immunity, deeper sleep, and improved mood.

Whether you want to use breathwork for deep healing, a burst of energy, or increased creativity and focus, it’s a practice that you can rely on.  Try this guided breathwork session by Wim Hof—it’s one of my faves!

3. Fave podcast these days?

I’m biased but I have to say the conversations on my show Raw Beauty Talks carry so much insight, support and loving guidance for anyone on the path to greater wellness, self love and personal power.  If you’ve ever experienced grief, you have to listen to this recent episode with Ashley LaMieux.  Ashley shares some beautiful perspectives & tools on how to move forward after a period of grief whether the loss of a loved one, the loss of a job/dream or even amidst grief for the current global state of affairs.

4. Product you’re loving for fall

So many people love the Laneige lip treatment, but after I discovered the brand tests their products on animals I wanted to find an alternative. I’ve been loving Biossance—available at Sephora!

That’s all for this week! Don’t forget to submit your questions here or book a one-one-one coaching session for extra support.
