October 31, 2023

There is nothing cozier on a cold autumn day than warming up with a hot cup of tea. These five Vancouver tea shops are serving up special fall teas to go as well as the best of the season’s harvest for home brewing. —Bronwyn Lewis

Balance Botanicals on Main Street has major Practical Magic vibes. This apothecary style herb and tea shop sells a wide range of loose leaf teas. Our favourite is the Orange Tea. Thus called for the addition of orange peel and slices, it also has honey bush, calendula, and mullein flowers.

Paragon Tea Room is serving up a special Earl Grey Apple Cider. This drink is an aromatic take on a classic. Apple cider is infused with spices and freshly brewed earl grey tea. Paragon uses tea espresso machines to pull concentrated tea shots which ensure that you taste the bergamot notes of the earl grey.

Cultivate has been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the latest Meizhan Black harvest. Meizhan is the cardamom, neroli flavoured epitome of black teas from Yunnan and fall is the ideal time of year to be drinking this year’s harvest.

O5 Rare Tea Bar recommends a fermented dark tea for fall called the Divine Madman’s Ja Aum. It is a Bhutanese tea that is fermented in oak ash and is reminiscent of a rustic and warming pu er.

Whisk Matcha Cafe is making a special Apple Crisp Genmaicha tea. The genmaicha has a roasted, toasty flavour that is perfectly autumnal. The drink is brightened and sweetened by the addition of hot apple juice.
