7 Heavenly Holiday Treats

Fellow sweet tooths, rejoice. There is no end to the holiday-inspired treats this year, released for the winter by our favourite chocolatiers and patisseries. See delectable options from Canadian treat brands below and indulge with us in the most sugary time of the year. —Julia Dumbrell

A half dozen Ladurée macarons in the Eugénie Gift Box make for an exquisite Parisenne gift, reimagining the classic macaron with a gluten-free crispy biscuit, luscious melting core, and delightful chocolate coating ($33). The gourmet flavours like tangy blackcurrant, vibrant orange blossom and delicate vanilla are available to shop online, or in the macaron maker’s Toronto and Vancouver-based boutiques.

SmartSweets invites us to unwrap and savour its new Jolly Gems, a hard candy with all the love and less of the sugar ($9). With green apple, peach and pink lemonade flavours, the Vancouver company is ringing in the season wisely.

The Love and Light Bento Box by Sugarfina makes our Hanukkah traditions shine bright ($32). Filled with Kosher-certified candies, find delight in the brand’s special-edition trio of Sugar Cookies, Robin’s Egg Caramels and Sours Candies.

Purdys Chocolatier has introduced a delightful collection of Chocolate Advent Calendars that promise to sweeten the countdown. The brand offers a variety of calendars for all to enjoy, from a classic Santa’s Lodge Advent Calendar to the brand’s first-ever Braille Advent Calendar and an option with ‘Mylk’ and dark chocolate surprises for Vegans ($27, $27, $31).

Inspired by its 10th anniversary, Chez Christophe has just released a 2023 Holiday Collection for seasonal indulgence. British Columbia’s own Chocolaterie and Patisserie has created a North Pole pastry kitchen brigade out of premium chocolate, complete with  ‘Chez Santa’, ‘Chef Penguin’ and ‘Chocolate Reindeer’ characters ($36, $36, $29).

The 10-piece set of Rogers’ Chocolates Creams have us feeling festive ($37). Wrapped up and ready to give in a traditional burgundy box, indulge in flavours like Candy Cane, Chocolate Marzipan and Eggnog.

De’Longhi encourages us to get cosy this season, offering a Gingerbread Mocha recipe from French Canadian barista Simon Pierre-Carron ($1,050). Start by pouring melted dark chocolate and gingerbread syrup into a holiday mug, then add a double shot of espresso and expertly frothed milk. Gifting an espresso machine will give sweet tooths their at-home barista dreams for seasons to come.
