Fête Chinoise has announced its upcoming Lunar New Year Signature Event at Shangri-La Vancouver, marking the inaugural expansion to Vancouver.
On February 17, the Vancouver Signature Event at Shangri-La Vancouver will showcase the renowned Chinese-Canadian actress and singer, Linda Chung, along with singer Tyler Shaw and Malaysian contemporary calligraphy artist Jameson Yap—all of whom share a deep connection to their Chinese heritage, and have been highlighted in Fête Chinoise magazine. Additionally, maestro Ken Hsieh will lead musicians from the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra in beautiful music to accompany the night. Stay updated on the latest lineup by following Fête Chinoise’s social media channels.
Designed by Palettera, the event floor of Shangri-La Vancouver will be transformed into a cultural wonderland, providing guests with an immersive experience in the depths of Chinese arts and culture. Guests can anticipate exploring transformed spaces featuring delightful fusion treats, signature cocktail-tasting bars, live performances, and art exhibitions, including a stunning Johnnie Walker experience.
Deborah Lau-Yu, editor-in-chief of Fête Chinoise, says, “In our ninth year, we’re so thrilled to expand our event magic to Vancouver. Our keepsake print publication has been well received by our West Coast audience, and we are delighted to be working with some of the artists and performers previously featured in our book for this event. Together with Shangri-La Vancouver, we are creating an exquisite presentation of Chinese culture in a Canadian context, and one of the most beautiful moments to add to the social event calendar in Vancouver. We are proud to support the Chinese Canadian Museum whose work for the diaspora community is invaluable.”
Kate Martin, hotel manager, Shangri-la Vancouver, says, “As we first opened our doors on the eve of Lunar New Year in 2009, and are now celebrating our 15th anniversary, we are thrilled to be hosting Vancouver’s signature Lunar New Year event of the season. As Shangri-La’s first extension in North America, we take great pride in blending British Columbia’s beautiful West Coast stylings, Canadian thoughtfulness, and Shangri-La’s distinctive Asian hospitality roots. It is a privilege to be partnered with Fête Chinoise for this perfect culmination of Chinese-Canadian culture.”
Each event will also feature a Silent Auction with curated products and experiences that begin at $1000 each in retail value. Proceeds from the Silent Auction in Vancouver will support the Chinese Canadian Museum, while proceeds in Toronto will support the newly established Fête Chinoise Cultural Foundation, a charitable fund focused on lifting the community through Chinese culture in Canada. Fête Chinoise is committed to fostering community and cultural growth.
