Staying Hydrated With The Birds Papaya

Feeling parched? Sarah Nicole Landry, better known as @thebirdspapaya, has teamed up with Canadian Tire to launch an exclusive drinkware collection featuring two products: Ambition, a 32 oz Manna travel mug, and Sip Me Baby, a 24 oz Manna tumbler. Each comes in four chic patterns: Happy Sand, Pink Stretch, Pearl White and Rosette, and are only available at Canadian Tire.

In her YES era, this is Sarah’s first collab in the hydration category. She has tried a TON of trendy water bottles over the years and was able to get very intentional with this collab and test the product over the last two years. What came out of the process was a product that is both functional and at a great price point. We spoke with Sarah to learn more! —Vita Daily

How did your personal experiences with various water bottles over the years influence the design and functionality of the Ambition travel mug and Sip Me Baby tumbler in this collection?

When reflecting on the things we all LOVE about our favourite water bottles/cups, I found that based on my experience and lifestyle, there was always something that fell short. When I created this line, I wanted solutions to some of my main problems like making sure they fit in a cup holder, that they could keep things cold, and the big one for me – it can be sealed shut!

This collaboration marks your first venture into the hydration category. What was it like testing and refining these products over the past two years, and what aspects were most important to you in achieving the final result?

I know the market is saturated, so I really wanted both styles to be fun and trendy but also ensure they are functional! We worked really hard on the designs, so much so that the final collection was incredibly hard to narrow down. We had some really brilliant designs that didn’t make the cut but the Ambition & Sip Me Baby designs truly met the needs of our customers’ lifestyle. It’s been amazing to see the positive responses fly in already because it makes me feel like we made the right decision.
Fun note: I also had them backpack tested by my teens, knowing they’d toss them in a bag, and thankfully they passed the teen test! 

The collection features four chic patterns: Happy Sand, Pink Stretch, Pearl White, and Rosette. Could you share the inspiration behind these designs and how they reflect your personal style and brand?

I’m very into the colour pink, so that’s to be expected. BUT I didn’t want those who aren’t big pink fans to feel left out which is why we added in a more neutral option called Happy Sand that features some smiles! The rosettes are a pattern I’ve been super drawn to for a couple years, it’s a modern twist on a vintage look. The pearl white is just stunning in every light and the Pink Stretch, well – that one has my heart. As someone who’s worked half of her career normalizing stretch marks, to most – it will look like a zebra print, but to many of us, it beautifully represents signs of growth in a way that is both artistic and fun. 

In your “YES era,” you’ve ventured into new collaborations. What drew you to partner with Canadian Tire for this drinkware collection, and how does it align with your current goals and values?

I mean, it’s Canadian Tire. One of my favourite parts of announcing this collaboration has been the response from others saying to me “girl, THIS is iconic”. It’s a brand that’s both nostalgic for so many of us and yet oh-so practical. I’m so excited I have the opportunity to partner with them. 

What do you hope consumers will love most about the Ambition and Sip Me Baby products, and how do you envision them fitting into people’s everyday lives?

Anyway they want them to! That’s the best part. We each have our own ways of hydrating or consuming beverages so I really just wanted them to feel like the ultimate toteable drinkware. Both have leak proof sealing aspects to them so they are perfect for on-the-go.

Do you have a personal favorite between the patterns, and if so, what makes it stand out to you?

It seems the fan favorite is the rosettes, but for me it’s Pink Stretch. It’s just too special to not be the one that stands out the most. 

What are some of your favorite beverages to enjoy in these new drinkware pieces, and do you have any go-to recipes or drinks that you love to fill them with?

I think everyone assumes that these are just for water, but I want folks to have fun exploring how they hydrate. I love a good ice tea, water with fruit infusions or if they’re anything like me – LOTS OF ICE! It’s really the only way I love water is if it’s super cold and thankfully these products keep it that way!
