Getting married at your favourite restaurant. Saying no to a bridal party. Skipping showers and bachelorette parties. Wearing anything but white. These are just a few of the ways couples are eschewing the norm on their wedding day in era of the anti-bride.
The anti-bride vibe is about being anything but traditional and bringing your personality into your day. It doesn’t mean you are anti-wedding; but rather looking to celebrate your love with a day that’s unexpected, original, not dictated by societal norms and expectations.
We’re seeing this move away from tradition happening with so many of the coolest wedding trends of the moment. Pinterest’s 2024 Wedding Report is proof of this. Topping the trend list? “Quiet life” weddings, defined as celebrations with a more casual mood. Other headliners including parties brimming with vibrant, colourful details (goodbye, neutrals), and gothic, dark romantic celebrations.
Of course, fashion is a main character of every anti-bride story. Choosing to wear colour, or a non-traditional style or silhouette is how to make a statement with your wedding look. From pink tulle, to jumpsuits, dramatic dark gowns, separates, knits, micro-sequins, minis and shorts, here are 12 ‘fits we love for a chic, anti-bride wedding wardrobe. —Alison McGill
