We’ve Got The 411 On SkinCeuticals’ New Launch: P-TIOX

August 12, 2024

On September 18, SkinCeuticals‘ new launch, P-TIOX will hit Canadian shelves. This is an amplified peptide serum to reduce expression wrinkles and enhance glass skin radiance. Inspired by neuromodulator injectables, P-TIOX is a peptide anti-wrinkle serum formulated with an Advanced Peptide Complex and amplified by potent actives including PHA, Niacinamide and Laminaria extract to create a more powerful synergy compared to peptide-based formulas alone. We spoke with dermatologist Dr. Mark Lupin in Victoria, B.C., to learn more. —Vita Daily

Could you elaborate on the inspiration behind the development of P-TIOX and how it aims to replicate or enhance the effects of neuromodulator injectables?

The inspiration behind P-TIOX is to formulate a topical skincare product that can treat the entire face, enhancing results of popular injectable neuromodulator treatments while also providing stand-alone benefits.  It helps fine to moderate lines and addresses the more difficult-to-treat areas such as under-eyes, cheeks and forehead, bringing out the skin’s natural radiance.  Extending SkinCeuticals’ medical grade range, P-TIOX is designed specifically to be paired with injectable neuromodulator treatments.

How does the Advanced Peptide Complex in P-TIOX work in synergy with other active ingredients like PHA, Niacinamide, and Laminaria extract to deliver its anti-wrinkle and skin-enhancing benefits?

The Advanced Peptide Complex is comprised of two well established neuromodulating peptides, amplified Argireline and dipeptide diaminobutyroyl, which help to soften and smooth lines.  These peptides are complemented by the other active ingredients such as PHA, niacinamide and Laminaria extract, which have been shown to amplify the benefits of the peptides, enhance skin radiance and improve wrinkles and texture. Clinical studies on P-TIOX’s patent-pending synergistic combination have demonstrated a greater increase in collagen and elastin formation versus peptide-based formulas alone.

In what ways does P-TIOX serve as both a standalone skincare solution and a complement to professional neuromodulator injections, and how does it fit into a broader skincare routine?

A. When used alone, P-TIOX can be considered a topical solution for pre-juvenation to help minimize and prevent early development of contraction lines while also softening expression wrinkles in more mature skin.  When used in combination with neuromodulator injections, it can enhance results globally while simultaneously improving radiance and texture. It is applied twice a day: once in the morning after your topical vitamin C serum and before moisturizers and sunscreen, and once again at night after gentle cleansing.

The clinical results for P-TIOX are impressive, with a reported reduction in expression wrinkles and improvements in skin texture and radiance. Can you share more about the clinical testing process and what makes P-TIOX effective for all skin tones?

A.  Studies of P-TIOX have included all skin types and tones (Fitzpatrick I-VI) as well as those with sensitive skin.  After one week, P-TIOX visibly improved skin smoothness, refined the look of pores, and revealed glass skin radiance. After 12 weeks, there was noticeable reduction of wrinkles in all skin types and tones, even wrinkles that injections cannot easily treat.  It is well tolerated and demonstrates efficacy in clinical studies both alone and in combination with injectable neuromodulator treatments. Beyond clinical evaluations, studies have included biomarker analysis, ultrasound evaluations, objective digital photographic analysis and subject assessments.

Given the dual-purpose nature of P-TIOX, what advice would you offer to individuals considering it as an alternative to injections or as part of their post-treatment regimen?

As a topical product, P-TIOX is not designed to replace injectable neuromodulators, however, P-TIOX can be considered a safe option to more comprehensively treat the entire face.  It can treat areas that injections cannot easily or fully address – such as crow’s feet and lines around the eyes (periorbital lines), while being considered as an ideal maintenance product in between neuromodulator treatments to further improve and potentially sustain results.
