What inspired you to develop the Mintier Mouth Tape, and how do you see it transforming people’s nighttime routines?

Jess and I are both wellness girlies and are known to try just about every TikTok trend out there. I (Rhae) tried mouth taping one night and woke up a new person. I was immediately obsessed because I had slept through a full night for the first time in months. I also noticed that I had a lot more energy first thing in the morning from getting a good night’s rest, and I could immediately  tell that my breath was much better in the morning. We sampled different shapes, fabrics, adhesives for months until we developed what we believe to be the best version of mouth tape on the market today. We designed the mouth tape in our signature Mintier green, with a shape that promotes nasal breathing, and a small slit in the middle, to help you feel more comfortable and not claustrophobic. A small step to add to your nighttime routine for immediate benefits and results. 

The mouth tape is designed to promote nasal breathing and improve sleep quality. Can you explain how this works and what benefits users might experience?

We are big advocates for nasal breathing because the results and benefits are immediate, and continue to build on a long-term basis. By taping your mouth closed at night, our Mintier mouth tape encourages nasal breathing, which has numerous health benefits including reduced snoring, improved oxygenation and better oral hygiene. This helps you wake up feeling refreshed and revitalized from a more restorative sleep by promoting optimal oxygen intake and reducing disruptions caused by snoring and dry mouth.

With the product recently going viral on TikTok, how has social media influenced the launch strategy and awareness of Mintier Mouth Tape?

Product knowledge and awareness helped us from the inception of this idea to bringing our Mintier version fully to market. By researching the trend, we had a chance to hear from hundreds of people about what they liked and didn’t like from the practice and other brands that they’ve tried in the past. That’s why we took our time designing our mouth tape, to ensure it was the best quality on the market so that it would be a no- brainer addition to our community’s daily routines. 

Throughout our brand journey we’ve looked at mouth care from a holistic perspective, and with that lens it’s shown that routines and practices should go beyond just brushing for optimal results and benefits. There is so much connection between the mouth and your overall health, more specifically the oral health to gut health connection. For us, introducing additional practices to our community helps them incorporate holistic mouth care into their day-to-day routines.

Mintier is also expanding its product line with offerings for pets. What drove the decision to venture into pet oral care, and how do these new products complement your existing line?

Our customers kept asking if they could use our breath serum on their dogs, so instead we partnered with a pet care manufacturer who specializes in oral care for dogs and created a Dog Breath Spray and Dog Water Additive. Now it’s easy to keep both you and your furry friends “mintier” at home and on-the-go!

As a Canadian brand, how important is it for you to highlight the local aspect in your products, and how does it reflect in the design and production of the Mintier Mouth Tape?

We are a Canadian, female founded brand, which is incredibly centric to our values both personally and professionally. We partner with local suppliers, manufacturers, freelancers and companies whenever possible, to keep Mintier rooted in Canada. Our Mouth Tape is designed in Canada and made overseas in order to offer the best quality option at the best price point for our customers. We’re so excited for this launch!
