What inspired you to create Florivera, and how did your connection to the Colombian Amazon shape the brand’s philosophy of “beauty through nature”?

Florivera really began as a passion project, rooted in our connection to Colombia and the traditional wellness practices of the Colombian people. My mom was born in Colombia, and my sister and I spent much of our childhood there, making it feel like a second home. From an early age, we were immersed in the power of botanicals and how they’re used to heal and mend in traditional ways.

You work closely with family-run farms in Colombia. Can you share more about how these relationships were built and their impact on your products and the local communities?

Yes! We were very deliberate in choosing where to source our raw ingredients. We wanted to collaborate with experienced farmers who practice responsible farming and give back to their communities. Today, we source from three different family farms that specialize in their own crops. By supporting these farms, we hope to ensure that they can continue doing what they love while producing the highest-quality ingredients.

Calendula from Aurora’s Farm plays a significant role in your formulations. Why is this ingredient so special to you, and how does it benefit the skin?

Calendula is incredibly special to us and is used in several of our products. It’s harvested on sunny days to ensure the petals are fully open and then air-dried at cool temperatures to preserve its chemical composition. The benefits of calendula are endless—it reduces inflammation, minimizes redness, and soothes sensitive skin. It’s especially effective for people dealing with eczema or psoriasis as a natural alternative to steroid creams.

With your ingredients sourced through biodynamic farming and wild harvesting, how do you ensure that Florivera products maintain high quality while staying true to your sustainability goals?

The key is partnering with chemists and manufacturers who share our values. Working with biodynamic farmers is also a game-changer—they create balanced agricultural systems where crops, animals, and soil all work together. This harmony yields superior products that are good for both the skin and the planet.

What does holistic wellness mean to you, and how do Florivera products reflect this philosophy?

To me, holistic wellness means caring for the skin, mind, body, and home. We have three categories of products: pink labels for Face, green labels for Body, and teal for Apothecary. Our use of essential oils not only promotes healthy skin but also creates a calming atmosphere in your home. It’s about nurturing your entire self.

Finally, what are your must-have products, and why are they your go-to skincare heroes?

My absolute must-haves are:

• Enzyme Glow Resurfacer: This powder exfoliant brightens my skin instantly. I use it 2-3 times a week as either an exfoliant or a mask—it’s so versatile!
• Antioxidant Face Elixir: This hydrating oil contains Cacay, known as “nature’s retinol.” It helps smooth fine lines and keeps my skin glowing.
• Hydra Soothing Mask: I can’t live without this time-released mask. It’s super hydrating, and I leave it on overnight for the ultimate glow!
