With The HMV Shop now at Toys”R”Us Canada, it’s easier than ever to find the perfect gift for everyone on your list. Our HMV Shop offers so much for the collector, fan and teen on your list – from record players and vinyls to t-shirts, manga comics and everything in between. Our books section has also expanded to include adult fiction best-sellers, comics and even cookbooks.
LEGO sets and interactive dolls are always popular, but what are some of the newer, trendier toys that are surprising you with their popularity this year?
In addition to LEGO and interactive dolls being popular this year, we are also seeing a number of other trends.
Crafting and creating is very popular. Looms and bracelet weaving or beading are very much of the moment as it provides kids with the opportunity to get creative and express themselves by designing unique pieces they can trade and collect with their friends.
For younger kids we are also seeing love for the classics like Little People and Fisher Price and kids’ favourite onscreen characters like Bluey, Minnie Mouse and Disney’s Stitch. Plush also continues to be very popular, from Disney and Squishmallows to Care Bears.
Nostalgia has also been an overarching theme this year with many big kids leaning back to their own childhood memories with Jenga and Lite Brite being among our best sellers.
For those shopping for a child who seems to have everything, what are some hidden gems or exclusive Toys”R”Us products that make for unique, wow-worthy gifts?
We are seeing a return to classics. This year Lite-Brite and Pac-Man Arcade Pinball are on our Top Toy list! Games like Pictionary and Monopoly have been reinvented. A new spin on a retro toy is a great way to win the holidays!
What are some tips for holiday shoppers looking to make their trips to Toys”R”Us as stress-free and efficient as possible this season?

This year I would be on the look out for our Weekend Deals, these are heavily discounted items – 30%, 40% and even 50% off hot items and brands of the season – there is a new line up every weekend and the deal is only available Fri-Mon so make sure to check in regularly! I would also say shop early – don’t wait – the most popular items will go fast and it’s the best way to avoid disappointment!
From among the top toys, what are you absolute fave picks?
For the preschooler, the Fisher-Price Thomas & Friends My First Train Table has so many different play options, it will keep little hands very busy! Stitch is incredibly trendy and going to be BIG in 2025. The LEGO Disney Stitch it crowd pleaser for tweens and Disney Fans of all ages.
