Stay Warm This Winter: UNIQLO Donates 30,000 HEATTECH Items To Canadians In Need

December 3, 2024

This holiday season, UNIQLO is bringing the warmth—literally. As part of its global The Heart of LifeWear initiative, the beloved apparel retailer is donating one million HEATTECH clothing items worldwide, with 30,000 units earmarked for communities across Canada. The goal? To provide essential warmth and comfort to individuals experiencing homelessness, asylum seekers, refugees, and others in need during the coldest months of the year.

“At UNIQLO, we believe in the power of clothing to make a positive impact on people’s lives,” says Jean Shein, Global Director of Sustainability at UNIQLO. “Through The Heart of LifeWear initiative, we’re committed to supporting communities across Canada by providing warmth and comfort to those who need it most during this holiday season.”

How You Can Help
Customers can join the giving spirit by donating to Covenant House, an organization supporting homeless youth, directly at checkout in any UNIQLO store in Canada. Additionally, UNIQLO’s RE.UNIQLO program invites customers to donate gently used clothing, which will be repurposed to support more individuals in need.

Partnering Organizations Making an Impact

  1. Covenant House
Supporting homeless youth since 1972, Covenant House offers housing and services to help young people overcome challenges like homelessness and human trafficking. UNIQLO’s HEATTECH donations aim to provide both physical warmth and dignity to Covenant House residents this winter.
  2. New Circles (Ontario)
This community-driven organization provides clothing and skills training to individuals with limited income. With HEATTECH’s innovative warmth, New Circles clients can better navigate Ontario’s frosty winter months.
  3. Edmonton Emergency Response and Newcomers Services (EERNS)
EERNS helps victims of disaster and family violence, as well as newcomers and refugees, settle into life in Alberta. UNIQLO’s donations will give these individuals an essential base layer to withstand harsh winter conditions.
  4. The Open Door Montreal
Focused on supporting Montreal’s unhoused population, particularly Indigenous communities, The Open Door provides emergency shelter and essential services. HEATTECH clothing will be a critical addition to their winter supplies.

By teaming up with these organizations, UNIQLO is not just providing clothing—it’s fostering dignity, resilience, and care.
