Zendeya just delivered a master class in Easter Eggs at the Golden Globes on Sunday. Though we’ve come to expect nothing but surprises and delights from Zendaya’s red carpet appearances (look no further than her last two press tours for Dune: Part Two and Challengers), the quiet debut of a new five carat diamond engagement ring was her biggest headline-making moment yet.
Accessorizing her spectacular rust coloured Louis Vuitton double-silk column bustier gown and dazzling Bvlgari necklace—set with 48 carats of diamonds and a beguiling centre tourmaline—was a stunning east-west diamond solitaire ring. A frenzy of is-it-or-isn’t-it an engagement ring speculation ensued, with TMZ ultimately reporting her beau Tom Holland proposed sometime between Christmas and New Year at one of Zendaya’s family homes.
We love that this very famous twosome has always maintained a high level of privacy about their relationship, and the couple managed to keep their engagement news just between them for a good chunk of time. For years the Spiderman co-stars maintained their relationship status was friends only. In 2021 they ultimately confirmed things were romantic when they were spotted kissing. In the era of oversharing, the idea of keeping such intimate and personal news like an engagement just between the two of you for a little while is wildly romantic.
As for Zendaya’s new bling, everything about the design represents exactly where we are at with engagement rings in 2025. The cushion cut, button back diamond is believed have been created by London-based jeweler Jessica McCormack who is beloved for her beguiling, modern and streamlined settings. Zendaya’s ring is spectacular in its simplicity; the diamond is the spectacular star of the piece. The ring has a modern twist thanks to the east-west direction of the stone (versus a traditional north-south configuration. We can now consider this setting as a major engagement ring trend.
