Vision Board Day is on January 14, 2025. Why do you think vision boards have become such a popular way to set intentions for the year ahead?

Vision boards have become popular because they offer a tangible and visual way to set intentions for the year ahead. Allowing people to visualize their goals makes them more real and attainable. It’s also a fun and creative process that can help you focus on what truly matters to you.

Pinterest has seen a massive surge in searches for vision board-related content. What do you think draws people to the platform as their go-to for creating and curating vision boards?

Pinterest is the go-to destination for ideas and inspiration, making it the perfect place for creating and curating vision boards. The platform allows people to explore, discover, and curate images that resonate with their goals and aspirations. Type in a keyword like “dream vacation” or “money-saving tips,” and suddenly, you’re immersed in hundreds of tailored ideas to bring your vision to life. We’ve seen searches for “Vision board goals” up by 2,076% so typing in those keywords is a great place to start!

The word ‘manifest’ was named Cambridge Dictionary’s word of the year for 2024. Why do you think the concept of manifesting resonates so strongly with people right now?

People are always manifesting their future and it has become a way to empower people to focus on their goals and dreams, turning aspirations into actionable plans. Pinterest helps bring these ideas to life, offering a visual space to make them feel achievable and real.

For someone who has never created a vision board before, what are your top tips for getting started and making it effective?

Pinterest is the perfect place to get started because it offers visual inspiration! Here are my top tips for getting started:

  1. Start with a goal or vision of what you want to achieve in 2025. Are you looking to finally make that career change? Prioritize rest? Travel to the dreamy place on your bucket list?
  2. Gather inspiration on Pinterest and start saving to a dedicated board! If you’re in need of inspiration, you can explore these Pinterest-curated vision board for ideas:

  1. Organize your Pinterest vision board or build a collage. Once you’ve saved all your Pins, your Pinterest board now serves as your 2025 Vision Board. You can either categorize your board into-sub sections (e.g. health, career, relationships) or create a collage. I also love the idea of using your collage as your phone’s lockscreen so you can see it, believe it and manifest it everyday.

How does Pinterest’s “Collages” tool enhance the vision board experience, and what makes it unique compared to traditional boards?

Our collages tool allows users to combine multiple Pins into one image that captures all your 2025 visions in one place. It’s the ultimate tool in personalization because you can clip portions of images from Pins that resonate most with you. It’s basically a  digital version of magazine cutouts! What are some of the most popular themes or categories people are pinning for their 2025 vision boards, based on Pinterest trends?

This year, we are seeing travel, study, wellness, and connections trending on Pinterest. These trends reflect a growing desire for adventure, personal growth and well-being. With searches for terms like “self-care vision board” up significantly, people are focusing on holistic goals that enhance their lifestyle and support their aspirations for the year ahead.

You’ve shared that organizing your vision board into sub-sections can help refine goals. Can you give an example of how this might look for someone juggling multiple aspirations?

Organizing your vision board into sub-sections can be particularly helpful for someone with multiple aspirations. For example, if you’re aiming for career advancement and also planning a major trip, you can create separate sections for “Career Goals” and “Travel Plans”. This way, you can focus on each goal individually while still seeing the bigger picture of your year.

Can you tell us more about your personal 2025 vision board? What themes or goals did you focus on, and why?

I’ve been in the new mom season of my life so it’s been harder to make time for myself. This year, I want to make time to do things that make me happy—add more flowers to my garden, travel more, go for more walks and embrace dressing up again! A quote that I hope will guide me this year is, “Rest is productive.” Researcher Alex Pang says that rest is so important for creativity and great ideas and even though it feels counterintuitive, you actually are more productive when you take time to rest.

How does sharing your vision board with others—either online or in person—help with accountability and staying motivated?

Sharing your vision board is like inviting others to cheer for your dreams. When your friends or family know about your goals, they can provide support and encouragement. And if you share it online, you might also inspire others.

Do you believe vision boards are more about visualizing and manifesting, or is it the process of creating them that helps people clarify their goals? Why?

It’s definitely a combination of both! Visualizing your goals can help make them feel achievable, but the process of creating a vision board is equally important. Taking time to reflect, organize and curate your ideas allows you to think critically about what truly matters to you. It’s a way to turn dreams into a reality while staying inspired along the way.
