What inspired you to partner with Expedia for the 2025 Air Hacks Report? How do you see this collaboration benefiting travelers?
I’ve been using Expedia for over 15 years and still continue to book my flights and travel through Expedia. They make it so easy to book anything travel related with top notch customer service whenever I had to make changes to my trip. I’ve encountered difficulties with booking directly via international airlines websites due to language barriers and complexity of their websites and Expedia has always made it so easy for me. That being said, when Expedia reached out to partner with me I was thrilled! There’s so many ways that travellers can utilize data collected by Expedia and use it to save money for their future trips. As a travel related content creator, my viewers LOVE hearing about these hacks.
With so many air travel myths busted in the report, which one do you think surprises travelers the most?
There were some I already sort of knew since I book travel so much, but I’m glad Expedia confirmed it was to book flights on Sundays since it’s the cheapest and booking on Fridays is the most expensive. However, the most shocking one for me was that there is an actual booking window when you should book for the cheapest price which is between 63-72 days before your flight. I always thought booking as early as possible would be the cheapest price.
Can you share your top personal hack for making air travel more comfortable, especially for long-haul flights?
The Pillowcase Hack – When I travel, I maximise my carry-on allowance by using this pillowcase tip. I stuff a pillowcase with clothes or even a jacket, to save space in my luggage and to create the perfect in-flight pillow. It means not only can you pack more clothes, but you can sleep more comfortably onboard. Just be mindful that rules vary by airline on what’s allowed in your bag.
Your pillowcase packing tip has become quite popular! What other creative packing hacks would you recommend for travelers?
If you are travelling internationally to a shopping destination, pack a suitcase inside a suitcase and pack only the essentials so that you can shop and have double the amount of space when you return! If you only want to use a carry on for your travels but have a lot to pack, you can use vac-seal bags and it’ll give up to 50% more space!
How has your experience as a former flight attendant shaped the travel hacks you share with your audience today?
Since we practically live in the skies and out of a suitcase, we definitely have more travel experience. The more we travel, the more we want to make our travels comfortable and efficient. We have learned so much along the way and sharing all these hacks and tips with my audience has been amazing and I love seeing people actually use some of these hacks! And of course I love helping my audience save money too!
What do you think are the most common mistakes travelers make when booking flights, and how can they avoid them?
I feel like a lot of travelers pay more than they need to for their trips. There’s so many resources out there that can help you save money for your travels. For the longest time I never paid for flights as I used credit card points. Utilizing free tools like Expedia’s Air Hacks Report can help save you money too. I learned some new hacks from there which I will use for my future flights and I’m excited to share them with my followers too!
Canadians love saving money! Based on the Air Hacks Report, which tips would you highlight to help stretch the travel dollar further?
My two most favorite hacks are the ones I already mentioned about booking on a Sunday and within a certain window before your flight. This is because I feel like every single traveller can use this hack. Other hacks are amazing too but seasonal so might now work as well for those that need to travel at a specific time!
Expedia’s data reveals the best days to book and travel. Do you personally follow these guidelines, or do you have your own secret strategies for snagging great deals?
I didn’t know some of these hacks but you bet I will follow them! Why wouldn’t I want to save money if I could!
Etiquette can make or break an in-flight experience. What are some unspoken rules or dos and don’ts that every traveler should know?
Unspoken Seat Rules – When possible, I glance back or notify the person behind me before reclining my seat. It’s a small but respectful gesture that helps avoid drinks spilling or laptops (or knees!) getting crushed. There are some unspoken seat etiquette rules that make flights more comfortable for everyone. Firstly, the middle seat gets both armrests—it’s only fair since they’re in the least desirable spot. Then on domestic flights, it’s generally a no-go to recline, but it’s more common on long-haul international flights, just make sure you respectfully recline!
With your growing platform on TikTok and beyond, how do you hope to continue empowering travelers and making their journeys more enjoyable?
