Canada’s Coziest Spring Getaways

January 29, 2025

Let’s be real for a minute: winter is way, way too long! When spring finally comes around, you’re so ready to get out of the house that you’ll take any chance you get. But instead of leaving it till summer to start booking exciting vacations or staycations, why not choose a cozy spring getaway instead? Get a break from your usual routine and book a stay at one of these gorgeous Canadian locations.

Spring Travel Advice

Since spring is still pretty cold in most parts of Canada (read: freezing and snowy), you’ll need to be a little more cautious on the roads if you’re driving and be sure you’ve got everything you need in case of an emergency. This general spring travel advice will ensure that you get to your gorgeous, cozy getaway in one piece and still in the mood to enjoy it.

  1. Always use snow tires. Even if it doesn’t look like it will snow, use your snow tires anyway! This is especially important if your getaway is in a more rural area, where help will take longer to come if it’s needed.
  2. Have an emergency kit in your car, including first aid and basic survival supplies, such as medication, wound dressings, food and water, and another pair of warm clothes.
  3. If you’re travelling by air, book an Air Charter. It’s the best way to travel, and that’s a fact! There’s no airport stress, no sharing armrests with people who don’t know how to share, and the ability to get far closer to terminal destinations in remote locations.
  4. Pack an outfit for warmer weather just to be safe. It’s good to have options in case of a magical early thaw!

Cozy Canadian Getaways

  1. The Post Hotel and Spa in Lake Louise

Cozy and rustic go so well together, don’t you think? There’s nothing in the world cozier than snow falling outside the windows of a log cabin. Add a hot drink and a fireplace, and you’ll be hard-pressed to get most people to leave! The Post Hotel and Spa is nothing short of iconic in both its wintery/ springtime beauty and the incredible quality of the accommodations and services. Nestled safely among the peaks of Banff National Park, the hotel and spa complex boasts world-class skiing, dining, and views, to say the least.

Choose from mountainside adventures or stay in your room, suite, family suite, or private cabin with a good book and a roaring fire. All accommodations are decorated in the same fashion; a combination of warm log cabin walls and minimal decor so that nothing looks too busy, a deliciously large stone fireplace, and lots of squashy seating for looking out windows and playing board games.

Pack some cute outfits for a special occasion or when you dine on exquisite cuisine by executive chef Hans Sauter of Switzerland at the hotel. Having been awarded the “Best Food in the Americas” award by Condé Nast Traveler’s Gold List, this menu will keep you coming back for more. Once you’re fed and watered to your heart’s content, there’s the Temple Mountain Spa. Immerse yourself in calm and contentment in this oasis and experience treatments ranging from nails and waxing to massages and body therapies. Who could ask for more?

  1. Luxury Train Trip to the Rockies

Can you imagine anything more cozy or comfortable than snuggling up in an enormous bed and watching the stunning, snowy Canadian landscape zipping by outside the window? See more of Canada’s natural beauty than you ever have before when you take this VIA Rail train trip through the Canadian Rocky Mountains, passing through Banff, Jasper, and Lake Louise too. Ever-changing scenery, incredibly comfortable and luxurious accommodations, and outdoor excursions without the need to unpack first? Sign us up!

You’ll board the train in Vancouver and enjoy the privacy and luxury of your own cabin. The next morning, you’ll arrive bright and early in Jasper and have your choice of activity — dog sledding, a snowy walk, a wildlife tour, or a planetarium and telescope excursion. Back to your cozy accommodations for delicious food and drink and another ride — this time to Lake Louise. Take a snowshoe adventure to Lake Abraham and a sleigh ride to Lake Louise. Next, it’s off to Banff for a wildlife and gondola tour, snowshoeing, or an ice walk. Your last destination, where you’ll disembark, will be Calgary.

  1. Fairmont Chateau in Lake Louise

If it’s a majestic setting you’re after, there’s no better place to take your spring vacation than the Fairmont Chateau. Backed by soaring mountain peaks, the glistening Victoria Glacier, and a frozen lake, this iconic location is a haven for those who love the five-star life. Whether you plan to spend your entire stay within the confines of an enormous bed, swathed in a tunic of bedclothes and only energy for meals, or whether you like to explore your natural surroundings when you stay somewhere new, the Fairmont Chateau has a lot to offer.

As far as the rooms go, it doesn’t get much cozier than this! Each room is decorated in an understated yet still inviting neutral palette. Every person who checks into the chateau will get a gorgeous view of the natural surroundings, but for a little extra space or prestige, you could choose the exclusive Gold Rooms that come with concierge service, lounge access, and more. Choose from in-room dining, the Walliser Stube restaurant, the Fairview Bar and Restaurant, or Louiza for a selection of comforting wintery classics (yes, we know it’s spring, but it’s cold!). There’s a decadent afternoon tea, rich Alpine fondue, and a selection of soul-warming wines.

If you want to leave your room for a bit, there’s the spa where you can be wrapped, pampered, and massaged to your heart’s content. If that sounds too slow for your liking, choose a sleigh ride, ice skating, snowshoeing, skiing, or wellness classes instead! There’s something for everyone here.

Cozy Breaks are the Best Breaks

Welcome to a new season and bid goodbye to the passing one at the same time. Refresh yourself for the year to come with a spring break at one of these gorgeous Canadian getaways, and you’ll have a year you won’t soon forget.
