The Trends We Are Copying From Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week: Spring/Summer 2025 Collections

February 3, 2025

Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week is always a whirlwind of creativity, passion, and imagination. The highly anticipated Spring/Summer 2025 collections were no exception. With each designer pushing the boundaries of fashion, this season’s runway was a playground for the extraordinary. Couture, in its purest form, is not about following trends—it’s about artistry, craftsmanship, and bringing new ideas to life. Yet, there were still key themes, fabrics, and silhouettes that caught the eye of both the fashion world and the public, leaving us eager to replicate some of these haute couture visions in our own wardrobes.

Bows: The Ultimate Feminine Touch

One of the most prominent features across several collections was the bow—a symbol of femininity and in this case, grandeur. Designers like Valentino, Chanel and Giambattista Valli incorporated large, dramatic bows as statement pieces, adorning everything from shoulders to waistlines. These aren’t your typical bows; they are oversized, sculptural, and often used to create a striking focal point on a gown or evening dress. Expect to see this detail trickling down to ready-to-wear collections in the coming seasons, adding a soft, romantic element to modern fashion.

Volume and Structured Skirts: Bigger is Better

Couture has always been about pushing the boundaries of shape, and Spring/Summer 2025 showcased some of the most visually striking silhouettes. Valentinto, Giambattista Valli, and Victor & Rolf embraced voluminous skirts —think exaggerated peplums, bell-shaped skirts, and ethereal layers that billow with every step. Whether made from delicate tulle or luxurious brocade, these skirts were often paired with fitted bodices or corsets to create a stark contrast between soft fullness and structured tailoring. The grandeur of these pieces is sure to make their way into everyday evening wear.

Bold Colors: Pastels, Red, and Blue Take Center Stage

The world of haute couture isn’t one for shying away from color. For Spring/Summer 2025, Chanel, and Valentino embraced a color palette that ranged from soft, romantic pastels to vibrant hues of red and cobalt blue. These colors were often used in unexpected ways, such as a head-to-toe pastel look with metallic accents or a daringly vibrant gown with bold structural details. Red and blue, in particular, were seen as the ultimate power colors, and will be on our radar when shopping for new pieces for spring.

Retro-Inspired Headdresses: Capes, Hoods, and Veils

The headwear at Couture Week felt like a tribute to the grand history of fashion. Jean Paul Gaultier, Valentino, Giambattista Valli, and Alexandre Vauthier introduced stunning retro-inspired headdresses, featuring capes with hoods and delicate veils that evoked a sense of mystery and vintage glamor. This season’s headwear is not just an accessory but a statement piece, with veils and capes cascading elegantly down the back, creating an almost theatrical allure. These accessories are all about creating a playful air of mystery while still maintaining an elevated sense of grace and luxury.

Corsets: Waist-Cinching and Sculptural

The corset continues to be a defining feature of couture, representing both structure and sensuality. Designers like Schiaparelli, and Jean Paul Gauliter showcased corsets in all their glory, from classic, rigid designs to more fluid, deconstructed takes. These pieces didn’t just focus on silhouette but also played with textures and embellishments. The corset makes a powerful comeback—this time around, it’s less about strict shaping and more about a celebration of craftsmanship and artistic expression. We are are looking forward to bringing this trend into wedding guest season.

Feminine Tiered Layers: Romance in Motion

Another standout trend was the use of feminine, tiered layers. This was seen in the collections of Christian Dior, Valentino, and Giambattista Valli, where the designers layered fabric in a way that gave volume, movement, and texture to their dresses. Tiered skirts, often combined with delicate lace or chiffon, fluttered down the runway, creating a soft, romantic aesthetic. The beauty of these pieces lies in their delicate craftsmanship, which adds a sense of timeless elegance while still feeling fresh and modern.

Off-the-Shoulder Silhouettes: Subtle Seduction

Off-the-shoulder designs made a subtle yet strong appearance in many collections, offering a delicate, sensual look without over exposure. Chanel, Schiaparelli and Valentino were among those who used this style, letting the bare shoulders and décolletage serve as the focal point of the designs. The off-the-shoulder look has a timeless appeal, and when combined with rich fabrics and intricate details, it brings a soft sensuality to even the most structured designs.

Sculpture and Femininity: Couture as Art

Perhaps the most significant takeaway from this year’s Couture Week is the continuing blurring of the lines between fashion and art. Designers like Schiaparelli, Gaurav Gupta and Georgio Armani Privé presented dresses that were nothing short of sculptures. Their creations weren’t simply garments but representations of pure artistic imagination. Fabrics were draped, twisted, and sculpted into shapes that appeared almost otherworldly. Alessandro Michele’s Haute Couture debut at Valentino was a spectacular representation of this, with designs that fused bold silhouettes with historical and artistic references, creating garments that looked like living art. This Spring/ Summer we will be taking inspiration from the bold and beautiful designs shown on the runways and step out in new looks that take us out of our normal comfort zone.

Couture Is About Imagination, Not Trends

At the heart of Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week is the spirit of imagination. While many of the trends we’ve mentioned are sure to be seen in mainstream fashion in the months to come, Couture Week is about breaking free from the constraints of trends and exploring new ways of creating beauty. From the revival of antique details like ribbons and corsets to the ultra-modern sculptures, the collections for Spring/Summer 2025 remind us that haute couture is more than just fashion—it’s a realm where passion, creativity, and artistry come together to create unforgettable works of wearable art.

In a season where no single trend dominated, the overarching theme was clear: the fashion world is in a state of constant evolution, where designers draw inspiration from the past, push the limits of form, and celebrate femininity in all its diverse expressions. This is the kind of fashion that sets the stage for what we’ll be wearing in the years to come, whether on the red carpet or in the streets. —Alexandra Aulicino
