From its humble beginnings in 2009 in Montreal, Ecksand—the French Canadian fine jewellery maison—has been redefining what ethical luxury looks like in Canada. Co-founder and Creative Director Erica Bianchini has built the brand on the belief that high-end jewellery can be both exquisite and responsible, proving that sustainability and luxury aren’t mutually exclusive.
Now, Ecksand is bringing that vision to Yorkville, the renowned Toronto neighbourhood known for its high-end European fashion houses. It blends seamlessly into the luxury landscape while offering something entirely its own.
Yorkville has long been synonymous with exclusivity—the kind tied to global supply chains and sky-high price tags. Ecksand, however, presents a different approach. This is fine jewellery with a distinctly Canadian sensibility: handcrafted in Montreal, in an atelier perched atop its headquarters, where artisans create each piece using conflict-free diamonds, ethically sourced gemstones, and 100 percent recycled gold or sustainable platinum.
Transparency isn’t just a buzzword here—it’s woven into every step, from responsible sourcing to the locally made, thoughtfully designed packaging. If luxury is about craftsmanship and rarity, Ecksand proves it doesn’t have to come at the expense of sustainability or accessibility.
Yorkville, with its mix of old-world charm and modern creativity, is the perfect backdrop for the brand’s ethos—where timeless artistry meets contemporary values. And the boutique itself reflects that balance. With a sleek, minimalist interior inspired by Ecksand’s French Canadian roots, the space feels more like an art gallery than a traditional jewellery store. Every detail, from the refined furnishings to the curated displays, mirrors the precision and care behind each piece.
To celebrate its arrival in Yorkville, Ecksand partnered with acclaimed Canadian artist Isabel Dusmann for a unique grand opening experience. The first 100 guests received personalized, one-of-a-kind artworks featuring their silhouette in front of the storefront, adorned with elements from the Yorkville Mural Festival. More than just a keepsake, the collaboration was a symbolic gesture—one that signified Ecksand’s commitment to becoming part of Yorkville’s artistic and cultural fabric.

Beyond its commitment to sustainability, Ecksand creates jewellery designed to last—both in craftsmanship and symbolism. Their collections aren’t just about aesthetics; they’re deeply rooted in meaning. The Mosaic collection, crafted in sustainable gold and adorned with ethically sourced sapphires, aventurines, rubies, and aquamarines, has even been worn by Meghan Markle—perfect for those with a deep connection to nature. The Mark collection features gold and diamond pavé pieces with bold “X” embellishments, symbolizing the power of making your mark. The Arctic Dragon collection, inspired by the Canadian Arctic, showcases intricately scaled designs in recycled gold, with diamonds and white gold reflecting the icy landscape—a mix of boldness and delicacy for everyday wear, embodying the strength and fearlessness of its wearers. And finally, the XO collection, with its interlocking gold X’s and diamonds, has become a favourite for wedding jewellery, embodying the timeless message of love.
With a strong sense of identity, craftsmanship, and purpose behind each piece, Ecksand isn’t just another fine jewellery brand in Yorkville—it’s a reflection of what modern luxury should be: intentional, exquisitely crafted, and built to last. ––Christina Armanious
