Kale was hailed the superfood of 2013 — from smoothies to supplements and just plain old salad, everyone went green.

Hemp heartsThis year, chia seeds packed with Omega 3, antioxidants and fibre will definitely have a moment, as will magnesium-rich hemp hearts (the healthiest part of the hemp seed). Sprinkle on salads, mix into smoothies or just eat them straight up.  

And an ancient elixir is also getting a lot of attention. Matcha – used in traditional Japanese tea ceremonies – comes from green tea that has been ground into powder and then whisked in hot water or milk to make a soothing drink packed with metabolism boosting goodness.
