There are candles—and then there’s this.
Le Labo has officially stepped into the world of incense for the first time ever, and true to form, it’s not just about scent—it’s about creating a moment. One that asks you to slow down, tune in, and be present.
Rooted in the ancient Japanese art of Kōdō—the “Way of Incense”—this launch invites you to experience fragrance differently. Not just to smell it, but to listen to it. To let it unfold slowly, filling a space in a way that feels both grounding and quietly transformative.
The scents themselves will feel instantly familiar to Le Labo devotees. Santal 26 brings that signature smoky, softly leathery warmth. Encens 9 leans resinous and spiced, with a meditative quality that lingers. And Ambroxyde 17 delivers a musky, radiant trail—subtle, addictive, and undeniably modern. Each set includes 35 handcrafted sticks, with a burn time of up to 25 minutes, making it just as suited to a quick reset as it is to a longer unwind.
What elevates the experience even further is the craftsmanship. The incense is meticulously handmade in Kyoto by a 12th-generation family workshop using traditional techniques, while the accompanying concrete holder—crafted in the U.S.—adds a minimal, sculptural element to your space. It’s the kind of object you’ll leave out, even when it’s not in use.
Launching globally June 1, the incense is priced at $63 CAD, with the holder available for $85 CAD.
As with everything Le Labo does, this isn’t just about fragrance—it’s about feeling. And in this case, that feeling is a quiet, intentional pause—something we could all use a little more of. —Noa Nichol
