Well Fed, Flat Broke

June 5, 2015

well fed flat brokeEmily Wight loves butter, chickpeas and messy kitchens—and cooking for picky eaters and specialized diets (that’s us to a T).

The Vancouver-based science communicator-turned-author (not to mention, mom and wife) recently debuted her brand-new cookbook, Well Fed, Flat Broke ($22), featuring 120 recipes for mouthwatering mains, sides and desserts that jump off the page with beautiful retro backdrops (think Mad Men-level food styling), no-nonsense ingredients and sweet, funny anecdotal intros ("When Grandpa poured drinks, the Coke was just for colour"). Chapters in this book are organized by key ingredients and include cute side bars outlining simple steps home cooks can take to save dollars and the planet. Must tries include the peanutty soba noodles with kale, cottage pie and radio pudding (Wight’s grandfather’s vintage version of molten chocolate cake).
