The editors of Gwyneth Paltrow’s beloved lifestyle site have waded through the muck of beauty myths and marvels to create an all-encompassing guide in book form.
With access to some of North America’s top health and beauty experts, GOOP Clean Beauty ($34) features extensive Q&As that shed light on the importance of diet, sleep, exercise and clean-beauty prods. After devouring the book to discover Gwen’s inside-out secrets, we narrowed it down to our five fave clean-beauty tips.

you are what you eat. A detox doesn’t have to consist of an elaborate juice cleanse. Rather, focus on a 10-day burst of clean eating and eliminating potentially harmful foods. The book provides enough recipes to extend a detox to 30 days.
sweat it out. It’s possible to rid our bodies of harmful toxins by sweating and, while we’ve always been told to aim for three workouts a week, fitness guru Tracey Anderson ups the anti by recommending six days a week for enduring physical changes. Giddy-up!
let’s get rolling. Physiotherapists recommend foam rolling to build the structural integrity of the body, reduce muscle pain and improve posture. GOOP expert Lauren Roxburgh encourages just 10 minutes a day, so get rolling!
sugar is sugar is sugar (darn it). GOOP expert Dr. Frank Lipman says there’s no such thing as a healthy sugar—including dates, which are high in natural sugar and can spike your blood-sugar levels. So, if you have a sweet tooth stick to fruits, sweet root vegetables and winter squashes.
perfecting the no-makeup makeup look. GOOP editors turned to celeb makeup artist Kate Lee for advice on how to enhance natural beauty—with a little pizzazz. “People that look really great, say on a red carpet? Part of the reason they look so good is they take care of themselves—it’s not something you can necessarily apply from a bottle.” That said, look after your body from the inside-out—and try some of Kate’s makeup tips (we’re obsessed with her French-girl smoky eye).
