There’s a new reason to head to Fort Langley this summer—and it involves house-made pasta, wood-fired pizza, and pistachio gelato.
Beloved local restaurateur Simone Hurwitz, the woman behind Sabà Café and Sabà Bistro, has officially opened Sabà Pizzeria, a warm and welcoming new concept inspired by the 16 years she spent living in Reggio Emilia, Italy. The new space, which opened June 6, brings together a pizzeria, focaccia bar, gelateria, and marketplace under one Mediterranean-inspired roof.
Located on Mavis Avenue, the beautifully renovated 140-seat restaurant feels like the kind of neighbourhood spot where you can linger over a spritz and pizza—or simply pop in for a focaccia sandwich and a scoop of stracciatella to go. Inside, a glowing Firestone pizza oven anchors the space, while shelves are stocked with take-home fresh pasta, sauces, soups, and ready-to-bake favourites.
The menu is all about simple Italian comfort food made fatto con amore—made with love. Expect thin-crust pizzas topped with mozzarella di bufala, wild mushrooms, truffle oil, and fennel sausage, alongside classics like Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe, Pappardelle alla Bolognese, and Rigatoni alla Norma. The focaccia bar offers handheld creations stuffed with mortadella and whipped ricotta, meatballs and arrabbiata, or grilled eggplant with buffalo mozzarella.
And then there’s the gelato. House-made flavours include pistachio, tiramisu, stracciatella, and salted caramel, with seasonal sorbets rotating throughout the summer.
More casual than its sister concepts, Sabà Pizzeria feels designed for exactly the kind of gatherings we all crave—family dinners, impromptu lunches with friends, or an evening spent sharing pizza and Negronis on the patio. In other words, a little taste of Italy, right in the heart of Fort Langley. —Noa Nichol
