Until recently, meeting for drinks on Parc Avenue meant two-for-one
pitchers and video poker machines. But with the opening of one new
watering hole, we suspect the tides may be turning.
With its laid-back vibe and anti-design décor (materials and furniture
salvaged from hospitals and old barns), La Buvette Chez Simone can not
be accused of cooler-than-thou trendiness.
Its by-the-glass wine list is a thing of perfection: The selection is
made up of private imports that change every week ($6 to $12). We
recently enjoyed a lovely Chablis from organic vineyard Alice and
Olivier de Moor, followed up by a sweet sip of yummy pear cider.
