Some evenings feel like they’ve stepped straight out of a novel, and this was one of them.
Perched atop the Park Hyatt Toronto, the iconic Writer’s Room Bar—a longtime gathering place for some of Canada’s greatest literary minds—set the scene for an unforgettable evening of books, bites, wine and conversation celebrating Toronto author Marissa Stapley and her bestselling novel, Lucky, now adapted into a new Apple TV+ series starring Anya Taylor-Joy.
In a playful nod to the story, guests were welcomed with lottery tickets, a clever reference to the novel’s plot, before settling in for an intimate conversation as part of Shinan Govani’s newly launched author series at the Hyatt, which brings Canadian writers and readers together to explore the stories behind the stories.
During the discussion, Stapley reflected on writing Lucky and the milestone of becoming the first Canadian author ever selected for Reese’s Book Club. Following the Q&A, guests had the opportunity to meet the author, have their books signed and chat one-on-one—a true highlight for any book lover.
