New-shi

March 18, 2011

We hate to sound jaded, but weve come to think of sushi as being as
boring as a burger and fries. But on a recent trip to Sushi
Yu Mi
, we rediscovered our romance with raw.

We started with the sashimi plate, featuring thinly sliced tuna and
salmon covered in a lively mix of the house-made soy sauce and ponzu,
and devoured the sushi pizza ($8.95), with a crunchy-chewy rice crust
covered in smoked salmon and tempura. Sushi rolls ($6.95) were anything
but traditional, featuring creative combinations like blueberries,
avocado and tuna, and warm shrimp with mango. But our absolute favourite
was the Thai-influenced lobster numaki ($4.95), with tempura, avocado
and rice noodles wrapped in rice paper instead of the usual nori.

Now thats fresh fish. JN
