A whimsical summer in Glasgow sets the scene for God Help the Girl, a dreamy, indie-pop musical set for release in December across Canada.
Written and directed by none other than Belle and Sebastian front man, Stuart Murdoch, the quirky musical captures the meeting of a coming of age trio (actors Emily Browning, Olly Alexander and Hannah Murray), who are awkwardly and giddily stumbling through teenhood. The Scottish misfits form a sweetly ’60s sounding pop group, performing a repertoire of dreamy love and anti-love songs—a soundtrack we’re already listening to on repeat. Completely funded through Kickstarter, the film has been visualized thanks to more than $100,000 in donations from the public.
