Yes We Clan

February 10, 2012

We havent a drop of Scottish blood, but one note of a bagpipe and were
weak at the knees.

No pipers marched us in but our visit to the new McGugans
pub
at Jones and Gerrard was all comfort and class: Red damask
wallpaper, leather banquettes and a menu packed with savory sannies and
tatties. We started our highland fling with battered lamb haggis balls
smeared in hot mustard and single malt aioli followed by a Ploughman
(the Scottish version of charcuterie) plate of cheese, home made pate
and smoked pork hock ($14.95).

Finish up with a deep-fried Mars bar and youll bounce out humming Mist
Covered Mountains. Marianne Wisenthal
