The Plateau’s Veré Chic Convenience Store

October 17, 2016

With cardboard floors and a gross je ne sais quoi smell, dépanneurs tend to be anything but fancy.

And yet, a Plateau newcomer has completely changed our minds. The aptly named Dépanneur Fancé is just that: A completely next-level take on the classic convenience store. Icky drip coffee? Replaced with third wave deliciousness. I-can’t-even-look-let-alone-eat-these egg sandwiches? Swapped for delicious homemade takeout options. Standard issue chips, candy and beer? Upgraded to an awesome edit of locally made, small batch treats.

All this in a lovely, airy space. Now if only we could snap our fingers and fancé-fy all the city’s deps. —Christine Laroche
