Some call it climbing, others call it vertical hiking.

We call it mildly terrifying (heights get us every time). Originally
developed during the First World War so troops could move easily over
the mountains, Via Ferrata (Italian for Iron Way) are paths on the
mountainside made of permanently affixed rungs and cables. They require
no climbing experience, so this editor scaled one with Whistler
Guides
and reached the peak of the mountain using nothing but her
own two hands and feet.

Easy? No. Exhilarating? Yes.Kelsey Dundon
