When we received an invitation for a palm reading at Westmounts Birla Center, we knew what to expect: a batty woman with frizzy hair, a couple of cats, maybe even a crystal ball and some tarot cards for good measure.
We were dead wrong.
The Birla Center, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, is bright and airy and palmist Peter Keough is as warm and down-to-earth as can be. What he told us during our hour-long palmisty reading ($99)? Uncanny. He was dead on and, yes, our next appointment is booked.
Next up on our Birla Center must-try list is a reflexology massage and maybe even a weekend getaway. The center rents a handful of chalets on Lac Dumouchel, about two hours from Montreal.
