Since the early 1900s, Toronto’s Kensington Market has been home to a variety of vendors proudly showcasing through their foods and general wares. Now, neighbourhood local Andrew Menceles (whose family founded Fortune Housewares) is honouring his parents—and his hood—with the launch of Kensington Market Street Food.
Featuring the bold, familiar flavours from his childhood roaming the market streets—but with an added twist to reflect present-day diversity—the collection is versatile, authentic and downright delicious. Among the range: jars of Crunchy Pickled Cantaloupe and hot and tangy Pickled Kimchi Slaw, three types of salad dressings (including a Smoked Tomato we’re dying to try) and even roasted-in-Toronto coffees.
Talk about giving "going to market" new meaning! —Noa Nichol
