Judging by the number of store openings of late along South Granville, retailers clearly see the value of positioning themselves in this gorgeous Vancouver district. Not that we’re complaining—along with our (many) old favourites, a stroll along South Granville always yields a new and exciting shopping surprise (or two, or three, or seven!). Here are six new shops and one café to check out on your next visit:
bonpoint. This exquisite French children’s clothing company (apparently Angelina Jolie’s label of choice for her brood) has opened its first standalone store in South Granville, boasting Bonpoint‘s full newborn, girl, boy, skin-care and fragrance collections, all with the brand’s signature chic, playful esthetic. lolë. Stepping into this Montreal-based athletic-apparel-maker’s new South Granville store, it’s clear we need Lolë‘s clothes in our West Coast lives. The bright boutique’s front room is dedicated, currently, to a wide range of packable down jackets, all designed to keep you warm and dry through winter (and other wet seasons beyond). In back, behind a rolling barn-door wall, discover a mix of activewear and lifestyle pieces, including leggings to wear to yoga and cosy knits to cover up with after class (closer to summer, watch for the brand’s famous flattering swimwear). kimberlite. This store is so bright, you’ll want to wear shades. China-based diamond retailer Kimberlite has joined South Granville’s glittering ensemble with a Canadian flagship showcasing the brand’s exquisite, exclusively designed fine jewelry. Though the Moon Goddess—a $26 million necklace unveiled at the store’s summer grand opening—is no longer on site, you’ll certainly wish to seek out pieces from the brand’s award-winning Blue and White Porcelain collection, which highlight the refined features of traditional Chinese art. Also known as the Abnormal Beauty Company, Deciem has opened on South Granville, catering to beauty buyers there to score the brand’s wait-list and web-buzzworthy products (think cult-followed foundations and celebrated skin serums). Product collections are grouped together and housed on wheeled shelving units, while long wood tables under bright lights provide a place for store staff to sit and spend time learning about each customer’s needs, in order to help source the perfect beauty regime. 2985 Granville Street, 778-800-2066, deciem.com

small victory. Phew! After all that shopping newness, it’s time for a treat! Head into the bright, welcoming South Granville space that is Small Victory Bakery for fresh-baked bread, fantastic coffee, and specialty baked treats, as well as dishes for breakfast and lunch.
