Yes, we’re blessed, with Whistler a skip away and world-class skiing at the tips of our boot-clad toes. Another unfair advantage we Canadians (and, generously residents of Washington state) have is that we needn’t ever pay full price to access the glory that is Whistler/Blackcomb.
 
Until November 17th, EDGE cards are going for the super-reasonable rate of $70 a day for 10-day cards, and $80 for five-day cards. As an added bonus, you will receive a free early season day (valid between Opening Day and December 15th) when you purchase a five or 10-day EDGE Card before November 17th. EDGE Cards also nab you perks (up to 20% off rentals and shopping—hello!) and even some lodging deals. Plus, they facilitate your access to some of the coolest upgrades on the mountain this season.
 
We’re excited to breeze through lift lines thanks to the newly introduced hands-free lift access scanners (thanks, technology!) and try out Garbo’s Grill, a new food-stop at the base of Whistler Mountain serving burgers, from beef to quinoa.
 
Our first run of the season? The “Rock’n’Roll” and “Backstage Pass” routes on Blackcomb, which have recently undergone improvements as part an overall upgrade to the Crystal Zone. Tip: Hit them at 2 p.m. for glistening sun-saturation and the best views in the world. —Adrienne Matei
