Family Ties

October 2, 2018

As if being the daughter of Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall wasn’t cool enough, Georgia May Jagger shines with a successful modelling career of her own and collaborations with some of fashion’s biggest names. Her latest, with lifestyle brand Volcom, recently launched exclusively at Simons stores across Canada … and we caught up with the woman herself in Toronto to uncover all the juicy details. —Rachel Johnston

Hi Georgia! Tell us about your collaboration with Volcom. How does the brand align with you?

Well, I used to have Volcom stuff, like obviously the belts and stuff like that when I was a teenager. So when they approached me it was really exciting because they wanted me to design, but they also have a sustainable aspect to the line. A few of the things we do are eco-conscious fabrics, a new water-printing technique and also the econyl for their swimsuits is made from recycled nylon fish nets.

Can you tell us a bit more about the new collection?

This is my sixth collection with Volcom, and this one’s for the Holidays and New Year’s Eve. It’s about having nice pieces for the day that are more casual, but can be dressed up, as well as some sparkly glitzy pieces for Holiday and New Year’s parties.

We love your style! From where do you draw fashion inspiration?

I think it can be from anywhere! It can be from my friends, my sisters, stuff I see people wearing on the street, from magazines to old pictures. I always keep a Pinterest board for each one of the lines, and then I show Kelly (the other designer). I just kind of draw it from everywhere, especially travelling.

Speaking of travelling, what’s your most-loved city or destination and why?

Well I always say London is my favourite city, but my favourite place to travel to is Tokyo, Japan. I love the food, the culture, and it is so beautiful. I will hopefully go this autumn when the maple leaves change—it’s so gorgeous then.

What are your current favourite beauty products?

I really like the Crème de La Mer Lip Balm and I’m using a cleanser from ISUN at the moment. I’m also working on my own skin-care collection, so I’m trying out face oil—which is organic and really nice. I’m also loving Lady Danger lipstick by MAC.

And the proudest moment in your career so far? And, what’s up next?

Being on the cover of British Vogue and walking in the Olympics closing ceremony. Next we’ve got Paris fashion week and launching this collection!
