3 Fab Foundations

April 11, 2018

For this roundup, we use the word "foundation" loosely—as loose as some powders, since one of those is included, too! Below, a look at three of our fave new face perfecters; try them this spring for an instant (non-invasive) "lift"! —Noa Nichol

foundation

marc jacobs shameless youthful-look 24-h longwear foundation. The "shameless" moniker means to encourage us to shamelessly show off our skin—and with this oil-less foundation in 29 shades, we’re more than happy to comply. Marc Jacobs‘ new longwear (think full-day) foundation ($56) features first-ever flashback-free and exceptional hydration via snow mushroom and blue daisy extracts. Our findings with use: a fresh, natural finish that was a dream to apply with the beauty brand’s own seamless liquid foundation brush ($50).

foundation

nude by nature radiant loose powder foundation. With Earth Day coming up and green beauty top of mind, we’re ecstatic about the arrival of Nude by Nature—a long-loved Australian company that creates high-performing natural-formula cosmetics that provide benefits that go beyond make-up—in Canada (at Shoppers Drug Mart locations nationwide, in fact). Too many amazing products in this range to mention here and now (watch for much more coverage from us in the near future), but we’re in perfect-finish love with the brand’s feather-light, award-winning loose powder foundation ($32), which totally evened out our skin tone, covered up redness and concealed our pores (best: it contains active natural ingredients like vitamin C-rich Australian Kakadu Plum, skin-nourishing Jojoba Esters and detoxifying Kaolin clay for a radiant, flawless and healthy complexion).

foundation

valmont perfecting powder cream. At the intersection between cream foundation and powder, this beauty of a product may be pricier than most, but it sure is worth it! Valmont’s perfecting powder cream ($190), in four highly blendable shades, is light, comfortable and provides incredible coverage that completely transformed our complexion (think: near perfection). Pro application tips from Valmont celeb make-up artist Mina Matsumura: sweep with light strokes over the cheeks, extending to the chin and forehead, then dab with a "stippling" motion around nose and lips. Et voila!
