I recently wrote about my move to a smaller space creating a need for more-compact appliances (without compromising on the tools I consider essential to good living).
Enter KitchenAid, with its Artisan Mini 3.5-Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer ($550). It perfectly fits the fewer-square-feet bill, featuring the same power as the brand’s classic stand mixer, only 25 per cent lighter and 20 per cent smaller than the original. Best of all it offers 10 attachments, available for purchase separately, including a grain mill, various pasta makers and presses, juicers, slicers, shredders and grinders. My favourite: a spiralizer ($220) that makes fresh fruit and vegetable recipe options, from zucchini noodles (delish with chicken, sundried tomatoes and basil!) to sweet and savoury dishes.
It’s the best sous a small-space chef could ask for! —Noa Nichol
