Hi Alicia! Tell us a little bit about you and what do you do!?

I’m a lifestyle blogger at aliciafashionista.com. I love to write about fashion, travel, and just life in general. When I’m not glued to my laptop, I am usually hanging out in our East Van apartment with my husband and scruffy rescue pup, at yoga or bopping around the city with friends.

How do you use your platform to impact those who follow you?

Connecting with readers and followers over the last 10 years has been beyond incredible. I think they appreciate that I’ve always tried to be as genuine as possible, but it has been especially wonderful to recently open up dialogue about things like anxiety and depression, healthy relationship conflict and body image. Through Instagram particularly, I’ve found that simply just size representation has been quite impactful. The 8/10/12 range isn’t widely portrayed within the fashion industry and it’s really special to be a part of normalizing a range of sizing online.

What’s your top social-savvy tip?

Be yourself and don’t overthink it.

And your personal-style mantra?

I always aim to be comfortable, but put together. I’ve been concentrating on editing down my wardrobe and having less lately. It’s been such a nice change of pace—getting dressed has never been so simple, and I can actually keep the bedroom tidy!

Is winter a favourite season for you? If yes, why and what’s your top activity to do in the Vancouver area? If not, how do you cope till spring?!?

Winter isn’t necessarily my favourite season, but there is still a lot to like about it. I love that shorter days mean that you can catch sunrise and sunset—and they sure are extra-spectacular in the colder months. Honestly, this is really silly, but one of my favourite things about wintertime is probably that I can secretly wear my sweats under a giant coat when I take my dog out for a walk. If it’s a particularly dark and cold winter, sometimes it’s about saving up and getting away somewhere hot for a few days. It helps having something to look forward to before the beautiful blooms of spring.
