Dress Destination

April 6, 2018

We love coming across "secret" local shopping spots, and this week we discovered a real retail gem! Though Middle Sister Boutique, on Vancouver’s breezy, beautiful West Fourth Avenue, has been up and running for more than two years, our inaugural visit uncovered a plethora of pretty spring dresses, super-trendy Korean fashions and statement-making accessories (not to mention, impeccable service).

Entering the store, our eyes were immediately drawn to a row of bright, bold printed frocks, many by Toronto label Birds of North America (we dare you to try and pick just one!), punctuated by solid-coloured structured pieces by Korean designers like Ti:Baeg (we love the frilly cuff detailing on this full-sleeve Prince sweatshirt). Best of all, owner Linda Sin, who named her shop after her own, actual second-born status, purposely stocks a limited number of each style each season, so shoppers are ensured they’ll be making a unique addition to their wardrobes.

Linda is also an extremely useful resource in and of herself, knowing her stock inside-out and bottom to top. She suggests, for instance, pairing a more cutting-edge top with a plainer or neutral bottom, and can help Vancouver shoppers make the perfect match right in store. We, for example, walked away with the cutest Eye of P ruffle dress after Linda showed us how to make it work it with a bandeau or tank top.

Trust us, a valuable addition to your closet awaits at Middle Sister—all you have to do is make your way to Kits, stat! —Noa Nichol
