It’s fun playing co-hostess (along with our incredible friends at the Vancouver Courier and Vancouver Opera!) when everything comes together gracefully. If we may say so ourselves, we think Vitamin Daily’s 10-year anniversary Sidewalk Soiree on Monday night in Vancouver went smashingly well.
Why? Because we had help from some of the city’s finest! Seriously, a swath of representatives from the worlds of food, art, fashion, health and culture (all the realms we’ve made it our business to represent during our decade of daily doses) were there in full force, helping to satiate, feed, entertain and overall wow the crowds.
The Vancouver Opera made a splash, with live performances en plein air as guests nibbled canapes by Farmer’s Apprentice Restaurant (that gazpacho … ). Diabolica Wines flowed, as did fresh juices from Nectar Juicery (including an aqua-blue beverage spiked with raw honey and chlorophyl that pretty much tasted like heaven must)—much thanks Liquid Assets, for manning the bar! Sweet treats lined the courtyard, from gooey oreo s’mores with homemade cola-flavoured Archimallows to tangy Pinkberry frozen yogurt and huge, fluffy cones of Petite Puf cotton candy (their glitterball flavour was an Instagram hit, especially when clutched in hands bedecked with awesome metallic Boho Mark tattoos). Luxe Landeau bouquets wafted the scent of roses through the courtyard (and provided serious eye candy, to boot).
Our participating West Sixth Avenue boutiques were in fine form, with guests checking out Kozai Modern Interiors, Kimoto Gallery, Cadence Cycling Studio, Movement108, Violet Boutique, Oliver + Lilly’s, Natasha Zakus Massage Therapy, Heather Ross Natural Eclectic and, round the corner, Beaucoup Bakery, where more treats awaited in the form of golden, cripsy-sweet Kougin-Amann pastries.
Rather than rolling out the red carpet for our guests, we commissioned chalk artist Emily Gray to splash the sidewalk with her beautiful, bright art. And, of course, everyone who returned a complete passport, graphically and gorgeously designed by Erica Philips, received a goodie bag stuffed with take-home treats, like lovely lashes from Noir Lash Lounge, darling hair ties from Hopscotch, beauty products from Kiss & Makeup and Dr Roebuck’s, award-winning BETA5 Chocolates and sweet Etsy honey pots.
As the pink-indigo sunset began stretching across the sky and DJ Chelsea Joelle played her final tunes into the early-autumn night, we toasted 10 years of guiding the good life here in Vancouver.
Thank you to all our readers and supporters over the last 10 years. We couldn’t have done it without you. —Vitamin Daily
