Why We’ll Be Flying Away This Winter With Air Transat

September 25, 2019

As the temperatures start to drop, one thing is becoming abundantly clear—as much as we love certain aspects of a good, cold, western Canadian winter, there’s no way we’re going to be able to stand staying put till spring!

Enter Air Transat, with new direct flights out of Vancouver, Calgary, Victoria, Edmonton and Winnipeg to a bevvy of sun-soaked, beach-bum-worthy destinations. New this season, and specific to Vancouver, Air Transat will be intro-ing vitamin D-seekers to their choice of 20 south and Europe destinations. In fact, as of December 2019, Canada’s No. 1 leisure airline will become the ONLY company to fly direct from YVR to Fort Lauderdale, Florida (two direct flights a week), while also adding departures to Liberia and San Jose, Costa Rica (two flights a week), as well as a direct flight to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

So, whether you’re looking to catch some waves in Costa Rica or sip piña coladas poolside in Punta Cana, the fact that you can now travel direct with Air Transat from Vancouver means more fun in the sun and less time in an airport—and that’s great thing. Plus, Air Transat’s in-flight experience is second-to-none (no wonder the carrier’s taken the title of World’s Best Leisure Airline at the Skytrax World Airline Awards for the second year running). Think: a renewed on-board experience aboard the all-new Airbus A321neoLR, boasting an entirely redesigned cabin, where comfort is paramount; a Club Class offering with more spacious and reclinable seats with various amenities to ensure passengers’ comfort on board (hello, welcome cocktail!); and a gourmet menu designed by chef Daniel Vézina (pre-order at least 72 hours before your departure and savour every moment of your flight).

And, there’s good, winter-busting news for those living east of the Rocky Mountains, too. Along with its new destinations from Vancouver, Air Transat will enhance its flight program from Calgary, adding another direct flight to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, for a total of four direct flights a week. Plus, some of the most scenic beaches in the south will be accessible to passengers flying out of Calgary, Victoria, Edmonton and Winnipeg as well.

And let’s not forget about our fave European sun destinations: Faro and Lisbon in Portugal and Madrid, Barcelona and Malaga in Spain will be readily accessible via Montreal and Toronto. Flying through Toronto or Montreal, passengers will also be able to holiday in London, Glasgow and Manchester in the United Kingdom, as well as Paris, France.

To recap: there’s no better way to break up (and escape) winter than with Air Transat. See you on the beach! —Vita Daily
