Afternoon tea: it’s practically a Mother’s Day tradition around our office. And this year we’re heading to the Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver, for a special edition that’s sure to please mama.
Happening on Sunday, May 12th, 2019, the Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea will be served in the hotel’s lobby—a tranquil urban oasis amid the hustle and bustle of the luxury retail shops along Alberni Street. Guests will enjoy live music courtesy of well-known Vancouver-based pianist Perry Dickison while indulging in a lavish Afternoon Tea tower, featuring both savoury and sweet bites (think sandwiches featuring sockeye salmon lox with cream cheese and watercress, smoked duck breast with pickled cherries, and truffled mushroom craquelin and aged balsamic, plus strawberry opera cake, oolong tea golden truffle and classic French macarons). Each tea tower also comes with lemon and matcha tea scones—an afternoon tea staple—served with house-made clotted cream and a selection of freshly prepared preserves.
Seatings, at $75 per person, start from 1 p.m. on Sunday and reservations are required. Call 604-661-3321 or email vancouver@shangri-la.com. —Vita Daily
