Being diligent with hand washing and using hand sanitizers can mean hands that are healthy, but drier than ever. Luckily, while thoroughly cleansing is of the utmost importance, it doesn’t mean your hands need to go without moisture. Below, our favourite creams and lotions to soothe your digits. —Vicki Duong
soap & glory. Appropriately named Call of Fruity, the Soap & Glory Hand Food ($10 at Shoppers Drug Mart) smells like a slice of paradise. The tropical scent of hibiscus, cantaloupe and cedarwood feels just like going on vacation while a blend of vitamin E and Shea butter keeps dryness at bay.
cnd. For that fresh-outta-the-salon feel, try nail care brand CND’s Scentsations ($24) for the real deal. Suitable for hand and body, these lotions are lightweight and leave no residue. Each scent is a blend of unique combinations making every formulation unique. Our personal fave is the honeysuckle and pink grapefruit!
the body shop. Known as a miracle crop, hemp seed oil is linked with nourishing fatty acids that not only help moisturize but protect and lock in moisture. It’s no wonder The Body Shop’s Hemp Hard-Working Hand Protector ($21) is its best selling product, with one sold every nine seconds!
evolution of smooth. The EOS mini hand lotion ($4) is a handbag staple for us. We love how compact the packaging makes it easy for on-the-go moisture, plus the formula is 90 per cent natural! Ultra light in formulation, skin-softening ingredients include aloe and oats, and the entire range is hypoallergenic.
lano. What we love about the Lano rose hand cream ($20) is that it comes in a regular and intense version. We love the intense for extremely dry hands and nails because the rose oil and lanolin is ultra-rich and nourishing. It’s also certified clean at Sephora and approved as baby friendly.
l’occitane. The ultra-hydrating Shea Butter Hand Cream ($35) effectively soothes and nourishes dry and irritated skin. This cult favourite is beloved for its nourishing ingredients, high concentration of Shea butter and rich and creamy texture. Enriched with honey, almond extracts, and coconut oil, these high quality, nourishing ingredients are what make this hand cream so popular- and are the reason one is sold every two seconds worldwide!
