Benefit Canada‘s national brow artist Breigh Bellavance chats about the brand’s fab new face offering! —Vita Daily
Hi Breigh! Tell us about Benefit’s latest cheek palette—what’s new and different?
The Cheek Star Reunion Tour Palette is all about bringing Benefit Box of Powder favourites into one universal, multitasking palette—but this time, Benefit reformulated some of our fan-fave blushes with a modern twist. The pigments are more lustrous than ever, with an added vibran-cy and glow. The entire palette is formulated to blend with any skin tone and acts as an all-encompassing cheek-survival kit. In the palette, these radiant blushes—including our new Georgia Peach—are also paired with Cookie, our legendary golden pearl highlighter, and our top-selling Hoola Bronzer. Many Hoola-lovers are also no stranger to a quick sweep of the but-tery bronzer across the eyelid for the perfect “no makeup” eyeshadow.
Benefit is, arguably, best known for its brow products—what makes its cheek products great?
Benefit certainly has gained a brow-reputation, with our Brow Bars being at almost every sin-gle Sephora across the country and our products being in countless makeup bags. The reason we love brows is because they act as true arch-itecture to the face, and are the key to anyone craving a fresh, youthful look. The same goes for our cheeks, as they also contour and shape the face. Benefit approaches cheeks in the same vital way as brows, which is why our Box of Powders collection is always growing and have been staples in the Benefit Collection for years. Benefit has dedicated endless hours of innovation and development to our coveted cheek col-lection, which is why our blushes are so instantly eye-catching, and the formulas deliver with incredible pigment and lasting power.
What are your top tips for choosing and using a cheek palette?
When you’re shopping for your next cheek palette make sure there is some versatility and range in the blush tones. It should house multiple colours so you can adapt tones to your life-style, outfits, brows, lip colours—you name it. We can often be drawn to that one colour—often our safe choice—but palettes are there to help you explore different looks while giving you amazing value. For savvy cheek shopping, a great indicator of a quality cheek palette is in the highlighter. With an easy swipe of your finger, you can instantly feel the smoothness and pigment pay-off. Highlights are a hard product for any brand to master, so if it passes the pig-ment test, chances are you’re investing in a quality cheek palette. In terms of usage, don’t be afraid to use shades alone, or layered. In our cheek palette, you are given bronze, blush and highlight options to create a full-face cheek look. But it doesn’t have to end there! You can mix and match shades to create your own unique look, and play with product in different areas of the face, such as bronzer on the lids and highlight under the brow bone.
Speaking a full-face look, what’s your best advice for matching our cheeks to our brows?
It’s not so much colour matching as it is vibe matching! A full face of makeup conveys an over-all mood, whether it be fierce and edgy or soft and effortless. When it comes to a bold brow look, you want to implement the same theme with the cheeks to create balance. However, that doesn’t mean it can’t be natural and blended. This is the perfect opportunity to explore contouring the cheekbone with a neutral bronzer, like Hoola Bronzer, or adding a pop to the apple of the cheek with an extra hint of colour and radiance. For the soft and effortless five-minute face, the cheek can remain contour-less and simply swept with a light wash of neutral colour, and the brow can remain soft and textured. The ultimate soft-and-effortless brow can be easily achieved with a long-wear clear brow gel, like 24HR Brow Setter, and then finessed with the simple flick of the wrist and an ultra-fine tip pencil, like Precisely My Brow Pencil. The flicking motion will enhance sparse areas of the brow with wispy hair like-strokes, that blend with the brow seamlessly. Benefitcosmetics.com
