A shimmer of good news in these challenging times: Giorgio Armani’s global clean water initiative, Acqua for Life, is entering its second decade, delivering universal access to drinking water in water-scarce regions.
This incredible initiative was launched in 2010, the same year the UN recognized the right to water and sanitation as a human right, and it has been a commitment for the brand ever since. In fact, addressing the issues of clean water, hygiene and sanitation in the world’s most deprived communities is evidently even more pressing within the current context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As of today, Acqua for Life has invested a total of more than 9 million euros in water projects worldwide. As a result, 413 water supply systems have helped over 217,000 people in 15 countries across three continents to gain access to safe water. Bravo!
Photographer Viviane Sassen collaborated with Acqua for Life for the second time to mark this moment. This year, she captured the joy of clean water in Nepal, on the field of one of the active water projects there. Beautiful photos, beautiful cause. —Vita Daily
