Her designs, which are inspired by the contemporary influences from her global travels and rich African heritage, help empower marginalized artisans with sustainable employment opportunities.

kali works. Kali is a Swahili word meaning hot, spicy, strong, dope, and this Afro-focused fashion (clothing and accessories) brand is all about global human connection, from the indigenous to the cosmopolitan. Co-founders Lyndi and Alex look for products whose designs are rooted to a specific place, but are equally appealing in any other context.

kasandy. From baby and kid items to food stuffs to skin care and apparel, this fair-trade store offers a huge selection of products made by artisans in Africa.

karibu. Ken and Jemeli are local artisans (based in New Westminster), who are passionate about creating unique handmade soap bars using natural, locally sourced ingredients.

khimia designs. Khimia Designs was created to spread the beauty of African print patterns and vibrant colours across the globe—indeed, every piece of fabric used makes a statement. The word khimia means peace in founder Victoire’s indigenous language, Lingala.

nectrous botanicals. Alexandra Hulley makes all-natural bar soaps to hydrate, nourish and delight. Her fascination with natural ingredients and the infinite ways they can be blended truly create some incredible soaps.

okoko cosmetiques. Okoko Cosmétiques produces high-quality natural skin-care products from natural ingredients that support the five vital functions of a healthy, youthful complexion: moisture, nutrition, protection, renewal and radiance.

ethos myth design inc. Combining traditional goldsmith techniques with modern technology, jeweler extraordinaire Michella Domo mindfully handcrafts quality creations that celebrate the human form.

sleepless mindz. Designer Jason Bempong (who has former experience working at H&M) creates colourful, vibrant illustrative clothing that expresses his unique individuality, including his African roots.
