Dogs And Dating With Bumble

August 25, 2020

Dogs and dating may be the perfect combo and, to celebrate International Dog Day, coming up on August 26th, Bumble has pulled some tail-wagging, ball-fetching, flea-itching (OK, maybe not that last one!) statistics on users and their thoughts on furry friends.

For starters, on Bumble, there are more than 16 million people around the world who are dog owners (bow wow!), with dogs and cats the most frequently mentioned pet in bios. Zeroing in on Canada, the app’s “pet badge,” which allow users to identify if they are pet owners, is one of the most popular badges on Bumble dating profiles.

Additionally, among Canucks (nearly 1 million of whom have added the dog profile badge on Bumble), more than 60 per cent of guys are pet owners compared to nearly 40 per cent of gals, and since social-distancing measures started being implemented in March, there’s been an uptick in adding the pet badge on Bumble globally and in Canada specifically (all those pandemic puppies!).

Here’s a hot (dog) tip: the Bumble badge, which even lets you indicate whether you own no pets or don’t want to own one, can filter your prospective matches based on the badge another user selected, whether that’s dogs, cats, etc. This way, users can tackle the lingering question without having to ask if you are a dog or cat person! Now that’s definitely deserving of a treat! —Vita Daily
