5 Sustainable Social Accounts to Follow

September 21, 2020

When it comes to updating out social feeds it’s not always about pretty flat lays and cute puppy pics. As we continue to educate ourselves on ways to live more sustainably, we’re happy to find some social media accounts that can help us do just that. Below are five of our favourite brands and influencers who are dedicated to sharing earth-loving tips and tricks! —Vicki Duong

@ssustainably_ Are you a visual learner? Check out @ssustainably_ for infographics about all things about the fashion industry. Founder Gaia does all the heavy lifting, making it easier for her audience to learn about industry jargon, brands to support, guides for how to make clothes last longer and debunking fashion myths.

@heyarchive Co-created by sustainability influencer Randa Salloum, Hey Archive is Vancouver’s largest consignment pop-up shop for men, women and children. While it might be a while before we’re attending large shopping events again, we are still enjoying following Hey Archive on social to learn more about the positive impacts that are associated with buying secondhand clothing and rethinking retail.

@attiremedia With an entire team of writers, Attire Media is committed to sharing tips on how to become a more conscious customer, with tonnes of different resources available—think dozens of links to podcasts, films, email templates and even their own conscious-fashion guide.

@carmitive The digital editor of Harper’s Bazaar Germany, Carmen Jenny is a sustainability enthusiast passionate about using her platform to educate her audience about how to be more conscious consumers. Her Instagram feed features dreamy #ootds as well as helpful hints like what deadstock fabric is, how to avoid greenwashing, and more.

@forageandsustain Making greener choices isn’t just a one-and-done deal, but a multitude of daily decisions made better. Whether it’s bringing your own refillable coffee mug to the shop or learning how to properly dispose of your empties, Forage and Sustain provides good advice to help you live more sustainably. Our personal favourite tip: swap out giftwrap paper for newspaper or magazines … perhaps an extra copy of VITA’s print issue?

Yes!! So much waste in the world. Our son for his sons 4th birthday in July did a total makeover on a a tricycle and trailer from the 70’s he purchased for $40. He spent countless hours and searched for small parts and the perfect John Deer colours. The transformation was no only amazing but so rewarding for both of them! Win win.
